The trail runs 167 miles through the Red River Valley, on the Red River of the North. The race starts in Halstad, Minnesota, 50 miles north of Fargo-Moorhead.

From there, mushers follow the Red River Valley – one of the world’s flattest landscapes – to East Grand Forks, Minnesota and back again to Halstad.

2012 Race Update: Unfortunately, our committee has made the decision to not pursue a 2012 race due to a lack of interest. The entire Red River Sled Dog Derby team wishes everyone the very best in the upcoming year and we hope to return!
